Reduce Foot Problems Associated with Diabetes by Wearing a Diabetic Sock

Once diagnosed with diabetes, you are given a lot of information about your blood sugar levels and monitoring your diet. Taking care of your feet is not usually as high of a priority during the initial stages of being diagnosed. But learning to take care of your feet is an important part of living with diabetes and foot problems. The use of a diabetic sock can be helpful in reducing some of the common foot problems that are typical for individuals who suffer from diabetes.

Causes of Foot Problems

One of the main concerns for people with diabetes and foot problems is what is called neuropathy. Neuropathy is a condition, common for people with diabetes, where the nerves on the body’s extremities begin to have damage. Because of this loss of feeling, individuals often do not feel their foot related problems until they have become severe. Minor foot issues will then develop into more serious health concerns.  Poor circulation is also a large concern for individuals with diabetes because their arteries may be hard and have a difficult time carrying oxygen and other nutrients through the body.
