Jobst Compression Wear Improves Circulation

Jobst compression stockings are worn by individuals who have problems with circulation or swelling in their legs. The gradient pressure socks assist in circulating blood flow. Compression wear is ideal for people with medical conditions such as arthritis, venous issues, diabetes, edema (swelling), varicose veins, lipodermatosclerosis (a disease of the skin and connective tissues), and for the prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Jobst compression socks are designed for maximum comfort while providing the graduated pressure needed to alleviate circulatory problems. Compression stockings incorporate stronger elastics than found in regular socks. This provides higher pressure around the feet, ankles and legs. The socks are the tightest around the ankles and then gradually become less tight toward the top. When the arteries, veins and muscles are compressed in this way, blood is forced through the narrow circulatory channels, thus improving circulation. Arterial pressure improves which prevents blood from collecting in the feet and allows more blood to flow back to the heart. (more…)
